Camp Director Gregg Wilson is the Head Coach of the UCSB Men’s and Women’s swimming teams. Gregg has led the Gauchos to 40 conference Championships, coached 65 All-Americans, and Olympic Gold Medalists Richard Schroeder and Jason Lezak. Gregg and his wife Carol are also currently managing the Santa Barbara Swim Club.
Gregg’s Assistant Coach, Tim Siciliano, is a 16 time All-American and a 3-time NCAA champion in the 400 IM for the University of Michigan. Tim has also coached age group swimming in the San Diego area. Tim’s enthusiasm and knowledge of swimming will be an asset to our camp. Tim will work with our older campers developing their stroke technique and improving their racing techniques.
In addition to Gregg and Tim, we have Melissa Wilson who has been on our coaching staff for over ten years. Melissa is the director of instruction at Wilson Swimming, and has taught hundreds of Santa Barbara children to swim. Melissa is currently a sixth grade teacher at Mountain View School in the Goleta Union School District. Melissa swam and played water polo for San Marcos High School and also played water polo at the University of California at Berkeley. Her enthusiasm is infectious and all her swimmers have a FUN and productive week.
We also have Paul Wilson joining us again. Paul has coached with us for ten years, and is the leader of our lunchtime activities. Paul swam and played water polo at Dos Pueblos High School. He went on to play water polo at the University of California at Davis. Paul is currently a substitute teacher at Dos Pueblos High School where he is the assistant Swimming and Water Polo coach for boys and girls. Paul also coaches with the Santa Barbara Aquatics Club Water Polo program. Paul is the technical director at Wilson Swimming where he has been teaching children to swim for the last 12 years.
Chelsea Siciliano will be joining us again this year. Chelsea is currently a fifth grade teacher at Monte Vista School in the Hope School District.
We have additional college athletes and post grads helping us with every age group. We think we have the best camp staff in the area. All our coaches are hired because of their knowledge of swimming AND their ability to work in a fun and productive way with your children. They look forward to working with your children at the camp and we have many returning coaches every year.
